Multi-storey commercial building under construction with exposed sheathing and a wrapped air barrier

We make sure your envelope passes.

Step Code targets. Air barrier performance. Inspection sign-off. We're the insulation and building-envelope sub that builders bring on when the energy target isn't optional — and we install to the standard the drawings actually specify.

BC Energy Step Code

Your building has an energy target. We help you clear it.

The BC Energy Step Code raised the bar on every new build in the province, and the envelope is where most projects win or lose their target. We don't treat Step Code as someone else's problem — we practice and mandate it. Our assemblies are installed to meet or exceed the step your project is designed to, and we document them so your energy advisor and the inspector have what they need.

Whether you're chasing baseline compliance or building toward high-performance and net-zero, we install the envelope that gets you there — and we flag the details that quietly cost projects their target before they become a problem on site.

Air Boss · Certified Air Barrier Specialists

The air barrier is the difference between passing and failing.

A wall can be full of insulation and still miss its energy target if the air barrier isn't continuous. That's the detail most projects underestimate — and it's exactly where we specialize.

Our team holds Air Barrier Specialist certification from BCIT. Through Air Boss, our consultation service, we assess the assembly, recommend the right air-sealing and insulation strategy for the project's performance requirements — thermal, acoustic, or fire — and make sure the barrier is continuous where the drawings need it to be. It's the work that turns a design intent into a building that actually performs.

What we control

We build for the ways envelopes fail.

Most envelope problems trace back to three things. We're trained to identify and address all of them before they show up as a callback or a failed inspection.

  1. Moisture control

Managing vapour movement so the assembly stays dry over its service life, in the Lower Mainland's wet, coastal climate.

  2. Thermal bridging

Detailing the assembly so heat doesn't shortcut through the structure and undermine the R-value on paper.

  3. Air leakage

Continuous air sealing so the building holds the performance the drawings specify.

Why builders choose us

Skill and capacity, on schedule.

  1. One crew, every assembly

Walls, roofs, floors, firestopping and barriers handled by a single accountable team — fewer handoffs, fewer gaps, one point of contact.

  2. Capacity that holds your schedule

We staff to be on site when we say we will be, so your other trades aren't waiting on the envelope.

  3. A decade-plus track record

We've worked with builders from first-project newcomers to established developers, all building to higher performance.

  4. Premium material access

Our supply relationships give us materials that aren't always available to the general trade — no substitutions that compromise the assembly.

  5. Regular communication

We keep you updated through the project so the envelope never becomes the thing holding up your inspection.

“NRG were on site when they said they'd be, and the inspector had nothing to flag. That's rare and it keeps our schedule intact.”
